GMA: Legacy of Corruption

By Daisy Besing

President Macapagal-Arroyo will step down from her thrown in Malacanang next year talked has been turned to the legacies that she will leaving. One of the legacies most often mentioned is the legacy of corruption. GMa is perceived to be the most corrupt presidents of the country. During her leadership the country has sunk to the depth of corruption, such that the Philippines ranked 141st in list of 180 countries according to the Transparency International survey last year.
The financial corruption is where the degree of corruption is measured by the amount of money that people in power amass. The financial corruption of GMA’s administration by most accounts bids well to compete with the Marcos Dictatorship.
“The end justifies the means”. Many politicians use this statement as their guide in their official acts. One can lie, cheat, cheat and steal. and steal to be able to continue to hold on to power, and power is used to lie and amass greater wealth.
Corruption is humongous; amounts are no longer just in million, they are in tens of millions, hundreds of millions and even billions. Almost big businesses deal or project involving government is involved with graft and corruption.
Government officials can easily corrupt because of their power. GMA corrupt not because of her power but because of her intelligence in corruption. She has the knowledge on how to corrupt his own country because she thought that Filipino people can easily accept her motto in governance for the people “I AM SORRY!”
Corruption is her biggest negative legacy in her presidency. Power of governance in corruption is very effective for GMA. Her corruption pulls down the economic situation of the country and the name of the country. She always make things good for her administration but not for the people.
Political Power is said to be rightful if it is exercised by a leader whose personal moral character is strictly virtues.
Arroyo’s legacy affects the government and the people all the way down the line. It is a legacy that the moral majority will junk and discard when the Arroyo’s administration finally bows out of power.

Masasayang araw na pinagsamahan kailan man di malilimutan.

By: Daisy T. Besing

Nawad-an pa ug pamilya, nawad-an pa ug panginabuhian.

Money can be a blessing

By Daisy T. Besing

I still remember the joy and appreciation I felt when a friend noticed that I needed money and gave me a two hundred fifty pesos. I learned that a hungry man really appreciates the simple things of life. This appreciation for what I had plus the confidence that I should have more became a tremendous magnet to draw success into my life.
Even today, although I love the comfort of trappings of outer success, I lived with different people, family, and supporters in this living and wonderful world. Missing the ordinary and simple life keeps me from taking it for granted.
A tremendous amount of stress is taken from your life when your biggest worries and challenges are where to get bottled water, cooked food, going to bed and supplying anything for your needs. When the comforts of life are temporarily taken away, I experience once again that I can be happy without them. When the pleasure of the mind, heart and senses are not available, the inner light of the soul will shine brightly.
Yet this wouldn't be such enlightening experience and positive challenge if I did not know that I also had the power to comeback and create my outer success as well. I still honor my desires from family, friends, health and others. When I finally have a second or even a third family that I have ever living for. I thank God for giving this opportunity and blessings.
Let there be no doubt the the quest for money is hurting the world, nut do not forget the reason why. Material abundance or desire for it is not the problem. Outer success is the only cause of unhappiness when you make it our primary focus and neglect being true to ourselves. Once we fulfilled with our soul's desire to be whole, then Money is one of God's blessings.
The desire for money and outer success is healthy and wholesome. Worldly success does not have to take us away from ourselves. You can have outer success and be true to yourself. You can get what you want and continue to love and take good care of what you have. With an understanding on how to create your personal success, you can experience both inner and outer success.
Identify your need and get it. When we are not getting what we need,we forget our true nature as human being. Happiness is our true nature. Let us be true to ourselves and do whatever you need not what you want. And let Him guide you as you journey in the midst of His living world. Let Him open your door and let Him decide whatever His plan for you. Think positive and be involve to the new and old ways of life.!!!!!

DISTANCE can’t stop us...

It’s my first time to enter a long distance relationship.

At first I feel doubts and questions about this thing. But then, I kept on ignoring it because I know that He’s a good man and his somebody I know that would take good care of my heart.

Twice a day in a month when were seeing each other. Some may say that it’s hard to have a situation like this, I just laugh at them. Distance? That doesn’t hinder everything. It makes our relationship challenging. Loving him is one of the best things that happen in my life. Happy and contented! Nothing more can I ask for. Does my article show that I’m in love? HeheÜ. I really love the feeling and I don’t know why. Loving someone who’s far away from me makes me proud, because I learn to love, trust, and realized how precious love is.

They say “distance can kill even the greatest love”. I never believe on that saying. It depends upon the person who’s in the shoe. On how they handle their relationship and on how they treasure it as if they’re near from each other.

Distance can’t stop us because god is guiding us and I know he doesn’t want us to be hurt again.

By Daren Tormis – very happy having him. 1year and still getting stronger!

Fixing a Broken Heart

Breaking up is a painful experience. It’s the time when you are missing the other half of your life. Flowing down of tears usually takes place. You want to be alone and pretend that you’re fine.

Mourning takes a long period of time especially if you are really hooked up with that someone. You are going to remind yourself and accept that he/she is now your ex. Getting over is so hard to do. Your mind tries not to think of him/her but your heart forces you to recall the sweet memories that you have shared.

It’s okay to grieve but make sure that you still care for yourself. Stop listening to the songs that could make you remember about your ex. “Theme” songs would hurt you more thus, do not let you escape from the past. Have some make-over or make yourself better-looking. Let him/her feel that it’s his/her great loss. Don’t plan for revenge because it will just ruin you.

It’s also good to voice out what you feel. In that way you are going to let go the pains from your heart.

Do not text or call your ex. Having an open communication with him/her would make it harder for you to forget. Do not isolate yourself from others. You have the reason to be happy and free from all the hurt. Try to mingle and acquaint with new people.

Do not forget that you have friends to lean on. Go out and have some fun with them. Friends are the ones who won’t make you cry and definitely not leave you alone.

Have a new life and look forward to find a better person who will love you even more. Fix your broken heart and everything will be alright.

--- My heart is not broken but I just want to ease the pain of the broken-hearted..

Tumoy sa jeep

By:Glacy Ann S.Bantolinao

Ngano man gyud ning pinoy no bisan unsaon dili gyud mo give way sa uban.

Kung nay holdaper bi ikaw mauna ug kahold-up.

HAPPY 24TH KADAYAWAN!

by: Glacy Ann Bantolinao

The Kadayawan Festival is an annual festival in Davao city. Its name derives from the friendly greeting "Madayaw", from the Dabawenyo word "dayaw", meaning good, valuable, superior or beautiful. The festival is a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest and serenity of living.
A celebration that interfaces the three aspects: tribal; industrial and; arts and entertainment. The festivities are highlighted with floral floats, street-dancing competitions and exhibits that showcases the island's tourism products and services.
The full cooperation of the Dabawenyos makes the festival successful. It’s very amazing that everywhere there are many people love to witness all the events. August 22 when I decided to go to the mall to see an artists like Coco Martin, Gerald Anderson and Enchong Dee, but sad to say I fail to see them. The presence of the people in the mall decided me to go home immediately because even in distance in far away distance all Ican see was the head of the people. Maybe it’s not really my lucky day to see the artists that I admire.
I’m glad that there’s no accident happens. God really spare the Dabawenyos. Let’s continue cooperate each other for the development of this city. Pray for the leaders to that God gave them enough knowledge for every decision they made. And most of all let’s thank God for the abundant blessings that He gave for this city. HAPPY 24th KADAYAWAN TO ALL!

Ambition Never Lost

By:Glacy Ann S. Bantolinao*

A…a…ant. B….b….bag. C….c…..cat 18 years from now when I grow up I want to be a teacher.

I still remember the words that I utter when I was in kindergarten. Yes, being a teacher, that’s my greatest ambition. To teach the children how to read and write and teach them to sing, to recite a poem that’s my passion.

But as I grow old my mind is changing. Reminiscing my elementary days I was one of the representative to compete as feature writer in Filipino and luckily I won 4th place in regional level. I discover that I loved writing. This experienced encourage me to be a journalist someday.

At my secondary level my mind focused as to what course I’m going to take that was to be a journalist. Slowly my passion in writing developed, because of some workshops. Until I reached my tertiary level, guess what I am currently enrolled as AB-Masscom student. Happiness, Discouragement, Excitement I can’t express the right word to feel being a .masscom student.

What about my greatest ambition? Being a teacher? Today I am currently a tutor of a grade six student. So you see I still have the passion to teach and I know I can use this when I am in the outside world, A stepping stone for me as masscom student to enhance my ability to talk to other people.

Still Proud of You

Beautiful inside and outside that’s the character of being a Miss Universe. When there is beauty pageant the Philippines has always its candidate to present the country.

This year’s candidate was Pamela Bianca Manalo. The Filipino shows their all out support for Bianca together with her family. Bianca dreamed to make the Philippines proud of her. Bianca tried her best to impress the judges and she was really supported by the Filipinos. From the parade in Bahamas Island Bianca really showed out, her smile and her friendly face makes the Filipinos more proud of her.

But in every contest someone wins and someone lose. Bianca never reached that far in top 15. But the support of the Filipinos to Bianca continues. Being competed with 85 contestants in different country was a big achievement.

It’s alright Ms.Philippines Bianca Manalo the Filipino still proud of you.Everyone loves you and continue supporting you. Congratulations and Always keep your feet on the ground. A person is only beautiful, when their own beauty, is reflecting on to others.

Someone...

Retchelyn Barcelo

All of my life, I've been searching for someone
Someone who will really love me for what I am ,
And not for what I have .
Someone who will understand
And accept me through all my mistakes in life
Someone who will make me better person
And who will bring out the best in me
Someone who will make my life complete
And always make me happy
Someone Who will truly love me .

Ang Pag-ibig...

Ang pag ibig
Retchelyn Barcelo

n
Maipadama lang ang nararamdaman
maging san at kahit na kailan pa man.

Hindi aalamin ang pinagmulan at nakaraan
tatangapin kahit kasuklam-suklam
Minsan ay sinisiraan at pinaghiwalay
subalit sa kabila ng lahat ay nagtatagumpay.

lahat ng tao ay nagmamahal
Walang kinikilala at kinatatakutan
masunod lamang ang nararamdaman.

Ang pag-ibig ay walang pinipili
Bata at matanda ay minsan nagkamali
dahil sa pag-ibig walang tinatangi
Mapaisampalad lang ang taong pinipili.

Thank you for the Friendship!

By:Glacy Ann S.Bantolinao*

Friends are special people. We can't pick our family, and we're sorely limited in the number of them at any rate. Society and mores (and often our own conscience) dictate we select a single mate. But our friends can be as diverse and infinite as the adjectives we choose. Our friends, in a very real sense, reflect the choices we make in life.

Thank you for always being there when I need you. Through ups and downs of my life you’re there. Your advices for me that made me stronger and gave me encouragement I thank you for that. When I am sad you know how to comfort me, discouragement, heartaches you’re there lifting me up. You’re knacks of joke that sometimes aren’t that funny just to make me smile I thank you for that.

Someday when our world will apart I just want you to know that I’ll never forget you. The lessons that I learned from you will always be in my heart. Thank you for the joy that you shared, the moments that were like a drama princess who cried with each other thank you for that. Thank you for the gift of friendship, for your shoulder to lean on and for your helping hand. The world may offer me lots of things but no one can replace you. Thank you for the gift of friendship.

As what the lyrics of the song says if I had only one friend left I’d want it to be you.

*glacy really value and loves her friends. I love you my friends…

"Missing Her"

by Rose Marie Jumawan

In this crazy big world of studying mass communication, it's a fact that you can't find a true friend in just one click. If a person is so good to you doesn't mean she/he is a true friend. Don't give 100% of your trust to anyone, remember to leave at least 60% to yourself. Our world is full of competition. Not just in a academic field but also in other matters that concerns you and the people around you. What I'm saying is just a reminder. Because I myself is a victim of me having a soft heart.
I've known this friend of mine for almost 4 years. We have a lot of things in common. We shared laughter's and tears and give advices to each other if we feel like losing our track in many ways. Though I am not that vocal, I considered her as my best friend. I shared everything to her, even things I kept from my family. We acted as if we are sisters..She's so good to me..I mean, she's the best. But not until I found out the betrayal she did to me.
My initial reaction upon knowing every details of it was “stunned”. She kept on talking but I could hardly hear what she's saying. I kept on telling my self that “no!this isn't happening...Not her..God please wake me up.”.
Days passed, and I already absorbed everything. I felt the pain and began to hate her. I was overwhelmed by the pain that I'm feeling that I started to cursed her. How I wished that I never met her. She's a traitor..Self centered and greedy.
She wanted to talk to me but I refused. Because every time I saw her reminds me of the betrayal she did. And I swear to God that I will never forgive her.
I know that it's not clear to her that the reason of this pain is not because it involves a “guy”. I don't give a damn about that guy but the issue was her loyalty as my friend.
And now, it's been a while since that incident. I can still feel the pain whenever I saw her walking on the hallway with her other friends. But, I am not sure if the pain that I am now feeling is the same pain I felt before. It's as if my heart is aching not because of what she did but because of the friendship we had that has gone to waste.
I missed her company. I missed her so much that I want to give her a big tight hug. I'm now ready to forgive her but I'm sure that the memory of the betrayal she did will haunt me..FOREVER.

I understand that human as we are, we commit mistakes. In 20 years of living my life, I can't deny that I've done terrible mistakes that caused so much pain to somebody. And I did all the things I can just to asked forgiveness. That's why I understand her.
We could still be friends again. But I'm afraid I could not give her the trust I gave her before. I don't know if we could renew our friendship. I'm sure everything will changed.

I've learned my lesson on trusting someone so much..And I thanked her for that.
I missed you tabz!

GMA last good meal; bad meal for Filipinos

By DAISY T. DESING

Scrumptious dinner vs. bland dinner!
Before…………
The president of the Philippines Gloria M. Arroyo met the president of United State of America Barack Obama for the first time to talk about the relation of both countries. After the conversation, Arroyo got disappointed because Obama did not include Philippines on his Asian visit. Despite of that feeling, she is still hoping that Obama will visit the Philippines sooner or later.

After……………..
The president’s trip ended through a dinner at the most expensive restaurant in New York with her entourage. The La Cirque French restaurant was known for the “dignitaries, celebrities, artists and the New York social elite”. They spend $20,000 for their lavish dinner that ran up a tab nearly a million pesos equivalent for Philippine money.

Source of information…..
The New York Post article reported that Ms Arroyo and her entourage racked up a US$20,000 bill at the French restaurant La Cirque in New York as they wound up the President’s trip.

Filipino critique……..
Filipinos government officials, private sectors and the ordinary people react when they heard this issue. A while ago Filipinos went into mourning for President Aquinos death, the story broke out when the New York post about Arroyos dinner last August 2, 2009.
It was a big NO…NO… for some Filipinos when they spend big money for dinner for their satisfaction. Money should spend it wisely especially in the wake of global crisis that has been taking its toll on the country’s long-suffering poor. They should explain to the public because they are the ones who are being put in a bad light for the people to be enlightened. This is not only for their own protection but also for the country and for the people. It may be an issue that will divide the Filipino again.
The president should spend big amount for those people who are in need especially those who are victims of typhoon and reeling for poverty, any growing hunger. Even if it is not public money, it is very imprudent act. They are obliged to explain and detail all the facts for Filipinos be updated and aware about the said issue.
They are eating an expensive food but did not think that the Philippine is suffering from different circumstances. Arroyo should look back her country I she and her entourage deserved to eat foods deliciously.
It is okay if it is their money but it is questionable for Filipinos to spend that much for a single snap of dinner. Her assets and liabilities will not be a good basis for her expenses.
Hopefully, the truth will prevail at the end so that justice will still be useful for this country.

The unemployment rate in the Philippines today is very alarming since it is increasing as time passes by. As our population grows higher, the number of graduates increases, and there are no enough jobs for them to be employed, then, poverty rate is still rising. Imagine, the unemployment data from the January 2009 Labor Force Survey confirms the country’s descent into greater joblessness due to the global crisis and accumulated domestic economic weaknesses.

According to the data of IBON Foundation Inc., a research group, there are now 4.3 million Filipinos who are jobless today. The IBON Foundation estimates that some 2.5% of the working age population, 15 years old and above are considered part of the labor force, which implies an additional 1.5 million jobless on top of the 2.9 million officially reported, for a total of roughly 4.3 million jobless. The number of jobless could be even much higher if, as is likely, labor force participation rates this year become bloated by even greater numbers of discouraged job-seekers.

The latest unemployment report underscores the deep problems of the economy: its weakened internal ability to grow, create jobs, provide incomes, and cope with the crisis. This also underscores the hazard of relying on export-oriented manufacturing instead of a solid and expanding base of domestic demand, such as would be immediately created by a strategy of genuine asset and wealth distribution. The country faces greater joblessness in the coming months, and the worst is yet to come especially with the government’s inadequate response to address the country’s severe unemployment.

I just hope that before they spent too much for themselves or for other things, they should think first on what could be done or what could be the possible solution of the numerous economic problems in the country today. There are alot of Filipinos who are suffering from hunger and most especially from poverty. And maybe, just maybe in no time, we will no longer be a third-world country, but the last world country.
