FINDING THE COMMON RATHER THE DIFFERENT

I had just finished a new parody, another one of those serious-headed parodies that I had. The song is “Losing My Religion” by the band R.E.M. which I turned into “Judging Their Religion”.

The song takes in the perspective of a child that dreams about peace and unity while around people that divide the community in reason of different beliefs and ideology. I wrote this parody as a wake up call to many Filipinos that put barriers in their society because of different perceptions of their faith.

Life would be brighter and better if all of us Filipinos can live in peace together and be united in their own country. Many things have been draggy barriers in an effective attempt in making a community in peace and ironically what should be making things in its moral order is the thing that is making unsound division not just here in the Philippines but even in the entire world.

We could have a community bustling with culture and we could have a lot of of things we can go through if we have a willing community---a willing community that helps each other in sickness and in health. But unfortunately for others, it’s too much to ask to even make them to talk to those ones that are different to them and think that their belief or faith is better than those others.

I am just a dreamer that wants equality of people regardless of their gender, race, culture, belief and faith because it is where we know are of different kinds that we can know that still alive in this planet because not everyone can be like you or anybody. On the contrary, many others treat these differences as negative to themselves like it’s a threat to themselves and even others, quite literally... Religion is a guide to live in accordance to the teachings of a God that is Maker of all creations, but then why is these people in living contrary? Have they forgetten Jesus’ teaching of loving one’s neighbor(fellowmen)? Or what is that really meaning of Islam in English literally?

I would like to wish that people would come together while remaining still as what they are. But oftentimes people would deny that wish just because of petty differences.

They are differentiating themselves because of their image of an Almighty Creator but ironically there is a common image of a Creator that is must to be seen---His choice of love instead of hate, His choice of compassion instead of rejection and His choice of peace instead of war. The real choice of religion is not the salvation of the person itself but only as a guide to how to act orv do things in accordance to His liking and I do not think division and discrimination is something that He could even think.

We should think that and consider that prejudice is not a "virtue" that He will like for us to make. This thought makes you beg in your knees just to have answer if there is really peace to happen in the Earth that He made. It is looking like the thing that is so-called "peace on Earth" is no real than the tales like Snow White---fantasies, too good to be true.

Unless people would learn to respect, understand and accept each other as they are, unity is deemed to be just a dream...
