“Hiring a Market”

by Rose Marie Jumawan

What does marketing really mean?According to the book, a Market is meeting together of people for the purpose of trade by private purchase and sale and usually not by auction. Marketer is the person who deals in a market and marketing is the act or process of selling or purchasing in a market.

But in college students world, the term “market” refers to a person who could be a source of financial help. A “marketer” is the one who benefits what the market can give and “marketing” is the act of using a market.

I am not new to these things. I knew that it is existing in my surrounding. I have friends who have markets. And I also have friends who are the market.

Marketing could lead someone into a disaster. Situations wherein the marketer cannot find his/her way out. Because some of them will do anything just to get what they want...money,material things and luxuries that this world can offer. They don't give a damn about what other people are saying. They can even sacrifice their relationship with a friend in exchange of those things. Pitiful, right? Knowing that they are college students who dreams of becoming professionals.

I'm not generalizing it. It's just that I knew some of them and their marketing strategies. But, there are some marketer who are marketing just for fun. They are not taking so much advantage with their market and they make sure that they are not stepping on someone. It even came to a point that their markets became their friends. I mean, real friends who are willing to help them when they needed to. And take note, they are not formulating lies in order to get that help.
And there are some who accidentally develops a feeling to their supposed to be market. Hahaha..ouch?lol.. This is the most unexpected case. =)

I guess marketing is not a crime. But if some of you wish that this will stop, you should not put the blame on the marketers shoulder. Wanna know why? Well, it's because the market is the one who gives the marketer the reason to market them. Confusing? Hmmmm..yes it is! Just put this in your mind, that no person can ever take an advantage to you if you don't let them to.
